The Position:

We are seeking an experienced and energetic PCB Designer to support our Engineering Department.  Ideal candidates will have excellent communication and organizational skills, be self-motivated, able to multi-task and work efficiently.  The PCB Designer works directly with the Electrical Design Team to develop analog and digital PCBs. 

Looking for qualified candidates in the Salt Lake City, UT market. 


  • Work directly with electrical design engineers to develop complex multi-layer mixed signal analog-digital PCBs:
    • Multi-layers up to 8.
    • High speed up to 50MHz following EMC high speed PCB layout best practices and guidelines.
    • High voltage/current and power (up to 400V, 20A, 3-5kW) following regulatory/safety EN62368 design guidelines.
  • Work with cross functional product development teams to support product development.
  • PCB routing for impedance control, power planes and signal integrity.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work to IPC standards.
  • An understanding of electronic circuits and components.
  • Leads PCB layout reviews.
  • Maintain Altium libraries.
  • Keep up to date on latest PCB material, layer construction, manufacturing guidelines, and implementing into designs as applicable.
  • Assist/advise design engineers on component selection and qualification.
  • Create engineering documentation that allows for manufacturing of PCBAs.  This includes schematics, BOMs, PCB fab files and assembly drawings.
  • Perform detailed error checks, post processing, Gerber files, to facilitate successful board manufacturing.
  • Participate in multi-site, multi-discipline teams of engineers and other stakeholders to achieve goals per milestones given.
  • Understanding of board fabrication/assembly DFM and DFT requirements.
  • Develop/improve upon best practices and procedures (continuous improvement activities).

  • Collaborate with electrical engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve development problems.
  • Analyze and interpret test information to resolve design-related problems.
  • Prepare project cost and work-time estimates.

EDUCATION

Associate's Degree or higher in Electronics or a 2 Year Technical Certificate with knowledge of analog and digital circuit theory

EXPERIENCE

Experience designing high density boards the incorporate microcontroller, mixed analog and digital circuits and peripherals such as Ethernet, USB, I2C, SPI, etc.

Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience direct PCB design experience using Altium (or equivalent).

Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team, consisting of at least hardware and mechanical engineers.

Experience designing to meet various regulatory bodies’ requirements (UL, CE, FCC, etc).


Computer Skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Proficiency with Altium (preferably also with A365)
  • Experience with 120v/230v powered signal processing/amplifier designs
  • Experience with 12v automotive amplifier designs

Other Requirements

  • Knowledge of audio concepts, circuits, embedded systems, PLD programming
  • One year ISO 9001 work environment a plus
  • Be a clear and strategic thinker
  • Must be able to manage details and deliver to deadlines

Normal office setting, except when traveling.
