AtlasIED Showcases Solutions for Public Transportation at APTA Expo 2023

Phoenix, AZ – Demonstrating its commitment to designing solutions for the public transportation industry/sector, AtlasIED will attend and showcase a range of audio and communications solutions at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Expo from October 9-11 in Orlando, Florida. APTA Expo is the world’s largest public transportation showcase, with transportation operators and managers attending to find solutions that enhance reliability, safety, and security in their facilities.

Mass transportation hubs like airport terminals and train and bus stations have a wide range of audio and communication needs for routine operations and emergency scenarios. The AtlasIED GLOBALCOM® Platform is the centerpiece of the audio and communications system for many of these facilities, with products to support transportation personnel, including gate, ticketing, operations personnel, and security teams. Transportation personnel use GLOBALCOM for back-of-house communications or allowing teams to deliver facility-wide and localized live or recorded audio announcements. These messages include live and real-time arrival and departure announcements, and voice evacuation and life safety communications during emergencies.

The GLOBALCOM platform includes amplifiers, announcement controllers, touchscreen communication stations, mic stations, and visual displays. LookHear is the latest addition to the GLOBALCOM platform. A visual communication display unit, LookHear serves as a GLOBALCOM endpoint and offers transportation branding, messaging, and the ability to deploy urgent communications in a sleek, custom-designed digital signage endpoint. LookHear helps transportation managers provide information to enhance the passenger experience.

AtlasIED will also show a range of loudspeaker products well-suited for use in  transportation facilities. The AtlasIED multipurpose column array ALA Series loudspeakers deliver maximum horizontal sound in areas where broad coverage is needed. Additionally, the company will show its SM Series of surface mount speakers, including those that meet the UL 1480 standard for loudspeakers designed for fire alarm and signaling systems and that meet NFPA 72 fire alarm standards.

“About 85 percent of airports in the United States use GLOBALCOM as it has been tested and proven in most of the world’s largest airports with strict requirements for mission-critical messages,” said John Goodrich, Director of Global Installed Systems, AtlasIED. “With installations at some of the world’s busiest and most renowned transportation hubs, such as LaGuardia Airport, Moynihan station, and Basel train station in Switzerland, we take pride in knowing that our products play a role in helping to keep operations running smoothly and enhancing passenger safety.”
